Hogmanay Mini Party Leader Info Meeting
Hogmanay is an old Scottish New Year’s celebration that is varied depending where you are in Scotland. Edinburgh for instance has a massive street party with entertainment on various streets and a large concert and fireworks at the castle. Here at Montaine we found it fun last year to have a small village type of party. Revelers go from neighbor’s house to neighbor’s house, sharing a drink or nibble – eventually ending in the town square (Clubhouse) for a bonfire (Firepit) and more revelry.
To keep this manageable there will be multiple smaller neighborhood parties. These parties will be grouped by area such as North Scrubjay/Shadescale or Alumroot/Tannins court and so on. Each party list will have 10 – 12 homes on the list. Everyone will start at home 1 and then after 20 minutes or so the group will move to home number 2. Homes will alternate what is provided. So home 1 would offer a drink, then home 2 food, home 3 drink, home 4 food, etc. (List Leaders may decide if enough folks are pairing up, or the homes are all very close, then maybe 30-40 minutes will be spent at a home instead of 20.)
Each list will need one home to volunteer to organize the party route (Party Leader) so it is as efficient as possible to create shorter walks between the homes, and to sort out what homes are serving what items (food or drink) and help with partnering if desired. Everyone will leave the last home around 11pm to go to the clubhouse to combine and create the larger community party at the clubhouse.
This meeting is to find Party Leaders. We will explain what was done last year, and answer questions the leaders may have.
