Hogmanay
Hogmanay is a traditional Scottish New Year’s celebration that takes many forms across Scotland. In Edinburgh, it’s marked by large street parties, live entertainment, and fireworks at the castle. At Montaine, the tradition takes on a more intimate, village-style feel, with neighbors gathering and moving from home to home, sharing drinks and small bites before concluding the evening at the Clubhouse firepit for continued celebration.
This year’s celebration will feature multiple smaller, resident-led gatherings organized by neighborhood areas such as North Scrubjay/Shadescale or Alumroot/Tannins Court. Each group will typically include 10–12 homes and follow a rotating format, beginning at the first home on the list and moving along approximately every 20 minutes, with homes alternating between offering drinks and food. List leaders may adjust timing as needed based on group size or proximity between homes.
To assist hosts and support coordination, list leaders are asked to submit their attendee names at the front desk. Lists may be dropped off in advance or brought in so staff can help update them ahead of New Year’s Eve.
